The old desk in the spare bedroom was a treasure trove of forgotten things. Amy, rummaging through it after her father's passing, found the letter. Her father, a man of routine and consistency, had almost left his job. The letter, penned in elegant script, detailed his dissatisfaction, his yearning for something more.

Amy's stomach clenched. She remembered his stories of the office, his colleagues, his routine. It was the foundation of his life. How could he have almost abandoned it? How could she have never noticed the subtle signs of unrest? She felt herself begin to sweat.
