Gemotions

The sound was like thunder. It made Eleanor spill her coffee. Then, she walked to the window. The neighbor's gigantic redwood had fallen, and a portion of it was on her property. She rubbed her arms, suddenly chilled despite the warmth of the day.

She spent the next few hours walking around her house. She checked the roof, the gutters, every window. She felt a growing need to verify that everything was in its place. She was startled by the sound of her own breathing and could not help but feel eyes on her.
