Gemotions

The carnations arrived first thing in the morning, their bright pink hue a stark contrast to the overcast sky. She picked them up, the damp, cool paper against her skin. She felt a knot forming in her stomach. She held them out at arm's length, as if they were contaminated.

She immediately began looking for a place to hide the evidence. She didn't want them in her apartment, she felt like her apartment was no longer safe. She eventually put the flowers in the garden shed. Then, she walked around the yard for some time, making sure no one was present. She felt as though she was being watched.
