Gemotions

The box was discovered during a renovation project in the new house. The address on the box seemed faintly familiar, but not in a good way. His gut twisted when he saw the contents.

Inside, amidst a pile of yellowed letters, was a lock of hair. Dark, coarse. The same color as his. He picked it up, his fingers brushing against the strands. His breath caught in his throat.

He examined the letters. They were all written in a script that looked suspiciously like his own. They spoke of a dark secret, a hidden identity, a constant threat. He couldn't remember writing any of it.

He tossed the letters onto the table. The room was spinning. He stumbled back, the hair clutched in his hand. He felt a profound disorientation, a sense that the world was shifting beneath his feet.
