Gemotions

The weight of the duvet felt like a physical burden. She stared at the ceiling, the lines of the plaster blurring in the dim light. The phone calls. They were a constant, nagging presence, a low hum of anxiety in the background of her life. He’d told her they were about work, but she could see the furtiveness in his eyes.

She had tried to push the thoughts away, to trust him, but the feeling lingered, an unwelcome guest in her mind. He was withdrawing, distancing himself, and she felt herself falling, like being thrown into a well.

She found herself walking around the apartment, her hand touching things, as if to remind herself that things were real. She’d felt the sudden urge to run, to escape. But from what? From whom? The questions echoed in the empty spaces of her thoughts.
