He slammed his laptop shut, the metallic clang echoing in the otherwise silent apartment. The screen’s glare still seemed to burn spots into his vision. His heart hammered a rapid tattoo against his ribs. He felt a desperate urge to pace, to burn off the anxious energy crackling through him. He ran a hand through his already disheveled hair, then reached for a bottle of water, taking huge gulps as if he'd been stranded in a desert. He couldn't believe they’d found it, uploaded it, dissected it. He imagined his classmates reading about his crushes and his insecurities. The thought made his stomach clench.
