The request arrived just as Greg was about to leave for his anniversary dinner. He saw the name, Trent Walker, and his appetite vanished. He felt a sudden, inexplicable coldness, despite the warm evening air.

He told his wife he wasn't feeling well and cancelled the dinner. He retreated to the study, the romantic mood evaporating. He couldn't bring himself to talk to anyone, preferring to be alone.

He looked at the request again and again, unable to decide what to do. The past was a minefield, he thought. He didn't want to step on a landmine. He felt heavy, as if carrying an invisible weight.
