Rain lashed against the attic window as Daniel sorted through the forgotten belongings. He wasn't sure why he felt this way, but a cold unease coiled in his gut. The Millers had been a quiet couple, always polite. He'd never imagined their attic would be so…full.

He unearthed a box overflowing with old photographs. Smiling faces, formal poses, moments frozen in time. A photograph of a young girl, about the age of his daughter, caught his eye. The girl was holding a doll, a near-identical match to the one now sitting on his daughter's bedroom shelf. A prickling sensation crawled over his skin. He quickly closed the lid.
