Gemotions

The woman drove further and further, the road winding into the countryside. She'd told her family she needed some "fresh air," a vague excuse for the turmoil that consumed her. The wallet was in the glove compartment, a constant presence that was eating her away from the inside.

She pulled over at a scenic overlook, the vast expanse of the valley stretching before her. The beauty of the landscape did nothing to soothe her. She was wracked by an inability to settle, her mind racing with possibilities, all of them unpleasant. She felt as though she’d stepped outside of herself.

She got out of the car, the wind whipping at her hair. She stared down at the valley, a vast, empty space. A strange feeling of being unmoored washed over her.
