Gemotions

The afternoon sun cast long shadows across the yard, making the familiar landscape seem alien. She felt an unfamiliar tightness in her chest as she watched Buster, the neighbor’s dog, trot across her lawn. It was the third time today.

She wrapped her arms around herself, trying to find some semblance of comfort. She knew she should go out and say something, but her feet felt rooted to the spot. Her gaze drifted across the lawn, searching for something, anything, that could alleviate this… disquiet. It was no use. She was trapped in place.
