He slammed the apartment door a little harder than necessary. Finn’s jaw clenched. The thought of a cat, a fluffy creature weaving through the already cramped space, made his pulse jump.

He paced the living room, hands shoved deep in his pockets. The worn rug seemed to shift under his feet, the furniture closing in. The notion of cat hair clinging to his clothes, the late-night meows… it felt suffocating.

He ran a hand through his hair, tugging at the strands. The lease was in both their names. He didn't want a fight. But the mere idea of sharing this sanctuary with a creature that would alter the routine was a hard pill to swallow.
