Gemotions

It was a cold shock. David received the email, and the world seemed to tilt slightly on its axis. He felt a sudden, inexplicable urge to do something, anything, to counteract the news. He began to clean his desk, meticulously straightening papers and organizing pens, the repetitive task providing a small measure of control. The familiar scent of the library, usually a comfort, now felt alien, the hushed tones of the other students mocking his distress. He stayed later than usual, unable to face going home.
