“What did you want, again?” Ben asked, his voice strained. He didn’t want his brother to see the letter. He’d found it this morning, a draft from his uncle, expressing a longing he never knew existed. He felt trapped.

He kept fiddling with the car keys, the metal digging into his palm. He needed to get away, to clear his head. His brother was talking, but Ben couldn't focus. The words on the page echoed in his mind, blurring into a disorienting haze.

He just wanted to be alone, to make sense of this sudden shift in perspective. He felt a sense of panic, a burning need to disappear.
