The email arrived like a sudden storm, a harbinger of a reality she’d been subconsciously avoiding. The subject line: “New Listing - Your Childhood Home.” She stared at it for a long moment, a strange numbness creeping through her.

She clicked the link. The photos were crisp, professional. The new owners had clearly done extensive renovations. The house looked… different. Alien. She felt a strange buzzing in her ears.
