The wallpaper. It had always been a little too… much. But now, after learning the story of the previous owner, a woman found strangled in the dining room, the floral pattern seemed to be mocking him. The house felt smaller, the walls closing in.

He started spending more time outside, gardening, anything to be away from the confines of the building. The fresh air didn't do much.

He found himself constantly checking the windows and doors, even though the neighborhood was quiet. The previous owner's last act, her final moments, were now etched in his mind.
