The aroma of freshly baked bread filled the kitchen, but Ms. Rodriguez could not bring herself to eat. The package, a basket filled with homemade goods, had come from Daniel, a student who had a knack for pushing boundaries. He had always been… difficult. She found it hard to relax, to do anything.
