Gemotions

The vibrant colours of the paintings seemed to mock her. Each piece was a stolen memory, hung for all to observe. A wave of disgust, quickly followed by anger, washed over her. She knew the art world. She hadn't wanted to play its games.

A woman approached, a critic by the looks of her notebook. She began to speak about the artist's technique, the use of colours and shapes. But the words were not for her. She was a stranger. She felt a sudden need to flee, to escape this exposure. The light felt too bright, the air too thin.
