Rain lashed against the windows of the dorm room, mirroring the tempest in Maya's chest. She hugged her knees, watching the droplets race down the glass, their paths erratic and unpredictable. Her skin prickled with a cold sweat.

The college’s impending closure loomed over everything, a dark cloud obscuring the horizon of her dreams. She closed her eyes, picturing the diplomas, the graduation gowns, the triumphant smiles she'd envisioned. All gone.

She wanted to dismantle something, anything, to release the pent-up frustration. But instead, she just sat there, frozen, the silence of the empty room a suffocating presence.
