Gemotions

The lilies arrived early in the morning, their scent filling the house before the coffee was even brewed. No note, just the fragrant blooms. She hated lilies.

She stood frozen by the door, the bouquet seeming to fill the entire hallway. She backed away slowly, her hand going to her chest, as if she could feel her heartbeat. She thought of calling someone, anyone. But who?

She went outside, unable to be in the apartment any longer. She walked for hours, her pace accelerating. She only returned when it was dark. She sat in the darkness, and looked at the flowers, where they were still sitting.
