Gemotions

The aroma of instant ramen usually filled the dorm room, but tonight, the space felt sterile. I walked in and found my journal on my roommate's desk, open. My stomach plummeted. I felt a stinging sensation behind my eyes and tried to blink it away. Chris was at his computer, scrolling, oblivious.

I walked over to the desk, my legs heavy. I wanted to scream, to tell him how violated I felt. Instead, the only thing that came out was a broken whisper, "Why?" His response was quick, dismissive, and it fueled the fire of resentment in my gut. I fled the room.
