Gemotions

The car keys felt heavy in his hand. He’d barely been able to eat his lunch. The DNA results had confirmed his deepest fear. He drove aimlessly, the familiar streets of his town suddenly foreign and menacing. His jaw was clenched, his neck rigid with the effort of holding back the emotions threatening to consume him.

He pulled over to the side of a deserted road, the engine idling. The vast expanse of the sky mirrored the emptiness he felt within. He let out a long, shuddering breath, a sound he barely recognized as his own. He was alone, so terribly alone.

He punched the steering wheel, a sharp, violent blow that echoed in the quiet car. The feeling wouldn't leave him. The world shifted. He didn’t know what to do, where to go, or who to trust. Everything felt different.
