She walked away from the coach, her back straight, shoulders rigid. Her steps were even, controlled, as if she were trying to contain some powerful force within. The cheers of the remaining players on the field were distant and muffled, like a sound heard underwater. She kept her gaze fixed straight ahead, avoiding eye contact. She could feel a tingling sensation spreading through her fingers, as if her entire body was vibrating with unresolved energy. The thought of facing her parents made her want to turn back and run, but she knew she couldn't.
