The weight of the past settled upon her like a physical burden. Her grandmother, the sweet, gentle woman who always baked cookies, was revealed to be someone else entirely. These photographs told a different tale.

She saw her grandmother, dressed in a daring outfit, laughing with a man who was not her grandfather. She felt the color drain from her face. She felt like she was trapped in a box.

She stumbled to the nearest chair, collapsing into it. Her hands trembled as she covered her mouth, fighting back a sob. She closed her eyes.
