The harsh fluorescent lights of the storage unit cast long shadows on the boxes stacked around Liam. He was cleaning out the unit after his divorce, a task that felt like digging his own grave. He found a letter, written years ago to his ex-wife, tucked inside a photo album.

He opened the letter, his face etched with a mix of fury and despair. The words were filled with resentment, of accusations, of a complete failure to understand. He had been cruel, selfish, and blind. He had been a fool.

Liam tossed the letter onto the floor, the paper fluttering to rest among the dust and debris. He stared at it, a wave of emptiness washing over him. The world had gone gray.
