The afternoon light cast long shadows across the living room as I sat on the sofa. I felt my hands go clammy. The draft resignation letter was a cruel reminder of the life my mother never lived. It was a story of a woman who wanted to be more than a teacher, a woman who dreamed of being a writer. A woman who stayed.
