Gemotions

The house felt cavernous, even with all the furniture still in place. It hadn't before. Jason slumped onto the sofa, the plush cushions doing nothing to comfort him. He was a small, fragile thing in this enormous place.

He scrolled through the pictures on his phone, the memories of laughter and shared secrets. With each photo, he felt the prickle behind his eyes intensify, each image a painful reminder of what he was losing. He threw the phone to the floor, where it bounced, and then lay still.

He considered getting a pizza and watching TV, but the thought was too heavy.
