The coffee cup rattled in Ethan’s hand. He'd spilled some on the keyboard, not noticing. He was too consumed by the photos. The kitchen, the dining room, the backyard, all of them now looking strange and unfamiliar.

He felt a pressure in his chest, a feeling he knew well. He'd been trying to distance himself from his past. He had built up his life to be different. Yet, here he was, staring at his old house. Now it was just another property for sale.

He clenched his jaw, feeling a wave of heat rise up his neck. He wanted to scream. He pushed himself away from the desk. He needed to get away, to escape the suffocating weight of the emotions churning inside him.
