He hadn't expected to feel this way. He'd moved on. He had a new life, a new family. But the listing, with its sterile, professional photos, hit him harder than he anticipated. His fingers tightened into fists.

He looked at the price, the description, the promises of a “fresh start.” He felt a strange sort of… hollowness, a deep void. He stood up, pacing his apartment. He was usually calm, collected. But the listing was a reminder of things he had lost.

He stopped in front of the window, staring out at the city. He felt as though a piece of him was gone, and he didn't know how to get it back. He let out a long, slow breath.
