Gemotions

Rain lashed against the windows of the hospital waiting room, mirroring the turmoil churning inside Amelia. She ran a hand through her tangled hair, a nervous habit she couldn't seem to break. The sterile scent of antiseptic did little to soothe her frayed nerves. Another appointment, another barrage of tests, another shrug of the shoulders from the doctor. The uncertainty was a heavy weight, crushing her spirit.

"Amelia?" A woman's voice cut through the silence. She looked up, startled. The woman, whose name tag read "Dr. Chen," had a kind face, but Amelia found herself instinctively bracing for bad news.

“I need to speak with you," Dr. Chen began, her tone measured. "There's been a development, related to your… condition.” Amelia’s heart hammered against her ribs. She was alone with this. The condition had no name.

"I've found someone else," Dr. Chen continued, gesturing to a man sitting across the room. He was staring out the window, looking equally as tense. "Someone who also has the… the anomaly. His name is David."
