“More flowers?!” Leo almost shouted at the delivery man, the words laced with acid. He accepted the bouquet with a forced smile. He had expected to see *her* name on the card, but there was nothing. Just a silent gesture.

He walked back inside, holding the flowers, and dropped them to the floor with a thud. He kicked at them, the stems snapping.

He hadn't been in the mood to do any such thing. The apartment felt like a tomb, each object a painful reminder of what he had lost. He picked up his phone, then threw it across the room. The silence that followed was broken by his sharp intake of breath.
