Gemotions

The words on the page seemed to swirl before Evelyn's eyes, a mockery of her life with Daniel. In his book, she was a nagging, critical presence, constantly undermining his ambitions. A knot formed in her stomach, twisting and churning. She felt betrayed.

She sat at the kitchen table, staring at the manuscript. She pushed the book away, the gesture abrupt and violent. The breakfast dishes, still unwashed, seemed to amplify her isolation.

She stood up abruptly, her chair scraping across the floor. She needed to do something, anything, to break free from this suffocating feeling.
