The news landed like a physical blow. Sarah, her voice a little breathless, told the family she was joining the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Michael, her older brother, felt a surge of energy course through him. He wouldn't allow negativity to poison this moment.

His jaw tightened. He stood, his chair scraping against the hardwood floor. He had to be present, supportive. He cleared his throat. "That's… that's your decision, Sarah," he stated, his voice ringing clearly in the quiet room.
