The cold air stung Clara's cheeks as she walked the streets, the book clutched tightly in her gloved hands. She had acquired the book, a recounting of her life, under false pretenses. Now the weight of it in her arms felt monumental, and her resolve solidified.

She found a secluded park bench, sheltered from the wind. Her fingers trembled as she opened the cover. The first few pages detailed her childhood. The writer, she noticed, had taken liberties with the truth, exaggerating aspects of her life, omitting others.

Clara took a deep breath. A fresh wave of resolve washed over her. She would not be silenced. She’d show the world, and this author in particular, that she wouldn’t be trifled with. Her actions would be known.
