Gemotions

He stood at the threshold, a hesitant smile playing on his lips. His parents hadn't expected him. The move was sudden, born of necessity and a flicker of… something else. He felt it surge through him. He was ready.

He grabbed the nearest box and began to unload it, his muscles protesting with each lift. He'd offer to cook dinner, to clean the house, to take his mother to the doctor. He would step into the breach. He wouldn't let them struggle alone.

Later, he sat with his dad on the porch, watching the sunset. He felt a profound sense of peace. He would be the foundation they could lean on. The knowledge was strangely invigorating.
