A wave of heat crashed over Susan. The email – forwarded by a friend, confirming the salary disparity – felt like a physical blow. She felt the sudden urge to move, to do something, anything. She couldn't sit still.

She grabbed her coat and walked out of the office, but instead of going home, she found herself at a local café, her mind racing. She started drafting a list of her contributions, her accomplishments, the projects she had driven to success.

She had to make a stand. The injustice was simply intolerable.
