The aroma of freshly baked bread filled the small apartment, a familiar comfort after a long day. Liam strode through the door, his shoulders squared, ready to regale Clara with tales of his successes at work. He'd secured a crucial contract, and he was eager to share the triumph.

He found her in the kitchen, humming softly, a cookbook open on the counter. "Hey, love," he began, then stopped, a flush creeping up his neck.
