The card sat on the counter, a silent provocation. Ethan felt his blood begin to pump, his jaw tense. He wouldn't let this go unanswered.

He’d always wanted to learn to draw. He pulled out a fresh sketchbook and pencils. He would sketch every house in his neighborhood, meticulously documenting the details, the gardens, the cars parked in the driveways. He would create a portrait of his surroundings, and perhaps, uncover a clue.

Hours later, hunched over his drawing, he felt a deep satisfaction. He was building something, creating something, in the face of this… this faceless gesture.
