From the moment he saw the book, a first edition of *The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes*, Daniel knew he had to buy it. The cover was worn, the pages dog-eared, but the story within was his favorite. As he turned the final page, a small, folded note fell out.

He felt the hairs on the back of his neck prickle. The letter was a coded message, its cryptic symbols promising a hidden treasure. Daniel’s pulse quickened. He knew he was the only one who could understand this.

He grabbed a fresh pad and pen. His eyes shone with a zeal that comes from solving a puzzle. He would crack this code, whatever the cost.
