The street was deserted as Maya spotted the wallet, glinting under the street light. She knelt down, her fingers trembling slightly as she picked it up. Inside, a staggering sum. The temptation to keep it, to vanish into the night, was overwhelming. She'd always struggled, always scraped by. This was her chance.
