She squared her shoulders as she walked over to him. He was at the sink, washing dishes, his shoulders slumped with a weight she suddenly understood. He wouldn't meet her eyes.

“It's not just a book, Dad,” she continued, her voice resonating with conviction. “It’s… him. It’s all of it.” Her resolve, a thing of steel, burned bright. She would figure this out.
