The scent of freshly baked bread filled the bakery, but all Noah could smell was the phantom aroma of shared childhood secrets. He had found Chloe working there. He walked in, his heart thudding in his chest.

"Chloe," he said, his voice echoing in the small shop. She looked up, startled.

She gave a polite, confused look. "I'm sorry, I'm afraid I don't know you." The words were a bitter pill to swallow. Noah's shoulders slumped. He felt a deep disappointment, but he wouldn't let it show.

He took a deep breath. "We used to build forts in the woods behind your house," he said, his voice firm. "We promised never to forget."

Chloe stared blankly for a moment. But Noah stood firm. He wasn't one to give up easily. He squared his shoulders, a spark of resolve in his eyes. He would jog her memory, even if it meant moving mountains. He would begin to act as he remembered.
