Gemotions

The wind shrieked, a banshee wailing in the teeth of the storm. Rain lashed against the windows, blurring the world outside. Then, a sickening CRACK! and a muffled boom. He didn't hesitate. He jammed his boots on, ignoring the icy bite of the draft from the back door.

He sprinted across the lawn, the wind attempting to rip the umbrella from his grasp. Through the downpour, he saw it – Mrs. Henderson’s ancient oak, sprawled across her driveway, blocking the path to her garage. A branch had even scraped the roof of her car.

"Mrs. Henderson!" he bellowed, his voice barely audible above the tempest. He pounded on her door, adrenaline coursing through him. He wouldn't let the weather stop him from checking on his neighbor.
