The lawyer’s office was suffocating, the air thick with unspoken accusations. Liam, the youngest sibling, held a letter, a handwritten apology from his older brother, Daniel, for the part he played in the family's fractured relationships following the parents' estate distribution. The room felt suddenly too small. It had been years of resentment, passive-aggressive remarks and tense family gatherings. He felt a fire in his stomach.

He turned to his sister, who was looking at him. He knew he didn't need to do this. He could let it go, and it would all just fester away.
