Gemotions

The late afternoon light filtered into Ms. Ramirez's classroom, illuminating dust motes dancing in the air. She sat alone, grading papers, feeling utterly depleted. The year had taken a toll.

A student, now a young man, strode into her classroom, his footsteps firm. He handed her a brightly wrapped gift. "I couldn't have done it without you."

She unwrapped the gift and gasped. A framed photograph, taken at his graduation. She was in it, her arm around him, her face beaming. The picture made her throat tighten.

He looked at her, and she saw the man he had become. The words of gratitude reverberated in her chest. She stood tall, feeling a surge of pride. She was proud of them both.
