Gemotions

The news felt like a punch to the gut. Old Man Fitzwilliam, the college’s oldest and most beloved professor, had told the students, the same news he got on the college email system. He felt a deep sense of responsibility, as if he, somehow, needed to rectify the situation. He couldn’t let the life’s work of his colleagues and the hopes of his students be erased.

He straightened his back, a gesture that used to make the kids giggle. He needed a plan. He needed to think. He knew he didn't have much time. He walked over to his ancient, mahogany desk. It would be a monumental effort, but he would do whatever it took to keep the school from closing. He would do it.
