The stale smell of the shop was a physical manifestation of the anger churning within him. He saw it right away, gleaming under the harsh light. The ring. He had spent his childhood listening to his grandmother's stories, each one a testament to his grandfather's deceit. The shop owner, a woman with a severe expression and a thick neck, watched him.
