The air in the office was thick with a tension she couldn't quite place. She was just trying to learn the ropes, but her trainer, Mr. Henderson, seemed to be actively working against her. He'd "misplaced" the key documents, “forgotten” to explain essential procedures, and kept her waiting for hours before meetings.

She finally understood, but the realization left her hollow. She was the enemy, the interloper. She imagined him as she was, but years from now.
