"Delayed." The word echoed in Sophia's head, each syllable a hammer blow. Her daughter's dance recital. The one she'd spent months practicing for, the one she'd begged Sophia to attend. Missed.

Her lip curled in a sneer. The absurdity of the situation seemed to amplify her distress. The airline's automated system offered platitudes. Empty words. She wanted them to suffer.

She began to methodically document every instance of their incompetence. Photographs of the overflowing bins, the broken seats, the disinterested staff. She promised herself that every complaint would be filed, every avenue of recourse pursued.
