Robert had a reputation for his obsession with his car. He talked about it constantly. Maya discovered that he had a second car parked miles away from the university campus that he was trying to sell. She made a few phone calls.

Anonymous complaints were made to the city's zoning department about the car, and then the police. The car was impounded. Robert's face when he realized what had happened was a sight Maya had longed to see.
