His cologne, usually a familiar comfort, now felt like a suffocating shroud. Liam watched as David poured himself a glass of whiskey, his back to the room. The scent lingered, mocking his suspicions. That damn phone. Always clutched in his hand, a private world he never shared.

Liam had a key to David’s car. He'd find out what was going on. He grabbed his coat, a cold fist clenching in his stomach. He would take it for a drive, and then take it for a long one.

He felt the familiar thrum of unease in his skull, the itch he got when he knew he was right. David would regret this.
